The Rowan Integrated Special Needs (RISN) Center at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) has been awarded a $100,000 grant for a program to increase awareness of and access to physical, sexual and reproductive health care for women in southeastern New Jersey with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). 4/14/2021 - New special needs center creates “safety net” for adults with disabilities

At 22, Nicholas Iannuzzelli can’t tolerate long waits for his medical appointments. It’s no wonder. Growing up, he saw many doctors to manage a complex list of conditions: a severe form of epilepsy, a nerve disorder, intellectual and developmental delays, autism, and a bout with a brain tumor. 2/13/2021 & 3/13/2021 - RISN provides special needs Covid-19 vaccination clinic

The RISN Center hosted a Covid-19 vaccination clinic for individuals with special needs and their families. Over 50 individuals received the vaccine in a setting that was designed to be sensory friendly and supportive. Therapy dogs from the Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program were present as well as behavioral health providers to help with any feelings of anxiety and provide extra support for those who needed it. Dozens of volunteers from the Rowan School of Medicine, including students and staff, came out and helped make vaccines accessible to individuals who were high risk and had difficulty accessing other vaccintation sites.

RISN providers and staff, along with students from the Rowan School of Medicine, hosted a drive through flu shot clinic for patients, making it a convenient way for individuals and families to protect themselves from the coming flu season. Many patients and their families at RISN face a variety of challenges coming in to the office and this was a fast, easy way to get the care they needed. Over 50 shots were provided, making this a wonderful success!

5/27/2020 - This center helps individuals with special needs amid COVID-19 crisis

The COVID-19 pandemic is having an enormous impact on individuals with special needs. However, the Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center, operated by the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, is answering the challenges presented by these unprecedented circumstances. The center is the only provider of integrated primary care and behavioral health services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in southern New Jersey. Continue reading

9/13/2019 - RCSJ Breaks Ground On “Eds, Meds & Commerce” Construction Project

Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ), together with Rowan University and the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders, celebrated the groundbreaking of two new construction sites on the Gloucester campus Friday, Sept. 13, unveiling plans for the Rowan Medicine Center and the Economic Development Center. 4/26/2019 - New Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center to open in Sewell

A ribbon was cut to celebrate the first special needs primary care facility in the South Jersey region as the result of a continued partnership with Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. The Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center, which initially will be located at the Bankbridge Development Center in Sewell, will deliver care for people with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. 4/5/2019 - Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center opens

Senior administrators from Rowan University, the School of Osteopathic Medicine and the Gloucester County Special Services School District were joined by local and state officials for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating a unique clinical enterprise for South Jersey. On Wednesday, April 3, the Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center (RISN Center) officially opened its doors in the Bankbridge Development Center and will soon begin offering patient centered primary and behavioral health care services for individuals with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities and for their families. Continue reading

8/2017 – 2018 Women in Healthcare

All too often, children with chronic diseases and special needs find themselves falling through the cracks as they transition to adulthood. It’s one of the reasons Jennifer LeComte, DO, is so passionate about offering her patients a unique – and comprehensive – type of care.
